Artist Statement

I paint life size foliage on remnants of wood siding from my construction jobsites.  My paintings use vibrant colors and are highly textured from the wide range of mixed mediums that are layered onto the surface. My paintings become portals into dreamy landscapes that are inspired from the architecture and outdoor spaces that I design and build.

My previous paintings explore the depths of the ocean and the textural qualities of the earth. In this work, I build up the surface of the paint and experiment with watercolor and oil that naturally repel each other on the surface.

As my work evolves, I find myself experimenting with using construction materials beyond just wood and mechanical surface treatments to create paintings about the effects of time, outdoor spaces and the beauty of natural aging.
