I’m an artist who lives and works in Los Angeles. I create paintings and build spaces. The context, imagery and inspiration of my paintings come from the exterior and interior spaces that I construct. I humbly designed and built my painting studio myself in an experimental way by using exterior cypress wood siding as a screen that modulates light both day and night. The site specificity of my artist studio is also oriented with the sun, prevailing winds, mature trees and the view towards the garden while still being in the heart of the city’s urban environment. My artist studio – both outside and in – is a place where I paint but have also built exterior installations exploring the human experience of passage. While building my artist space in West Adams, I’ve been painting and showing work locally in solo and group shows while simultaneously being commissioned by individuals in the local community to help them envision and build their homes, gardens and creative spaces.
